The Pirate Bay Sold

Long Live the Pirates

Long Live the Pirates

Watched the South Park “Somalian Pirates We” episode – Season 13?  Guess the life of a pirate must eventually die.  To quote the pirate bay founders themselves from their blog “On the internets, stuff dies if it doesn’t evolve. We don’t want that to happen”.  Or is it like bone thugs said “For the love of money” (no different from prostitution) (US$9.1million).  Or was it a brilliant business idea from the beginning – give people what they need and make a major profit out of it by selling out to the media moguls. Huh you asking? Yes, the pirate bay has reached an agreement and will be aquired by Global Gaming Factory X AB.  This is probably the end of “The Bay” – for all pirates, those who believe in the sharing of ideas, concepts and “stuff” lol, the anti – corporationists of the world.  The Bay has “gone Pop” as we call it in hip-hop.

TPB might change owner

Yes, it’s true.

News reached the press today in Sweden – The Pirate Bay might get aquired by Global Gaming Factory X AB.

A lot of people are worried. We’re not and you shouldn’t be either!

TPB is being sold for a great bit underneath it’s value if the money would be the interesting part. It’s not. The interesting thing is that the right people with the right attitude and possibilities keep running the site.
As all of you know, there’s not been much news on the site for the past two-three years. It’s the same site essentially. On the internets, stuff dies if it doesn’t evolve. We don’t want that to happen.

We’ve been working on this project for many years. It’s time to invite more people into the project, in a way that is secure and safe for everybody. We need that, or the site will die. And letting TPB die is the last thing that is allowed to happen!

If the new owners will screw around with the site, nobody will keep using it. That’s the biggest insurance one can have that the site will be run in the way that we all want to. And – you can now not only share files but shares with people. Everybody can indeed be the owner of The Pirate Bay now. That’s awesome and will take the heat of us.

The old crew is still around in different ways. We will also not stop being active in the politics of the internets – quite the opposite. Now we’re fueling up for going into the next gear. TPB will have economical muscles to let people evolve it. It will team up with great technicians to evolve the protocols. And we, the people interested in more than just technology, will have the time to focus on that. It’s win-win-win.

The profits from the sale will go into a foundation that is going to help with projects about freedom of speech, freedom of information and the openess of the nets. I hope everybody will help out in that and realize that this is the best option for all. Don’t worry – be happy!

Don’t worry – be happy lmao..Really.  The base that on the fact that once the new owners mess around with things, people will stop using it.  When has that ever stopped anyone?  And the response from users : Well, lets just say this is what the founders of tha bay said in response :

User deletion

We are going to build a user deletion interface later today. Many people have asked about having their account removed and we will not force anyone to stay on of course.

However, we also want to point out that we have no logs of anything, no personal data will be transferred in the eventual sale (since no personal data is kept). So no need to be worried for safety. We always care for that.

It also feels a bit sad to see the comments on the previous blog entry. We understand that you’re upset. But we have reasons to do this that we cannot ignore. We need to keep the site going and this is the only working alternative. We cannot finance the growth of the site anymore and we cannot back down. The only way is up and this is the only route to that place.

The support we had, is support we still need. We’ve been fighting for years for you; and yes; you have supported us in that endevour. We still need you, even if you abandon the site. The important thing is that you keep sharing and keep on saving the internets. We will try to do that, but right now, we need and deserve a break. Some things needs to be reborn and rebooted. Let’s make this into something good!

Is this the beginning of the end? My GTA is needs more seeds, and is still stuck on 78%.  Come on pirates, gimme a few so I can join the GTA sensation before Stevo kills me lol “SHOUT OUT TO STEVO – with the hot-tub overlooking the Lake“,,…

Back to the Bay..we wait to see what changes there will be.but it seems the battle with the courts have eventually led to the dudes “settling out of court” in a way.  What happened to the fabulous idea of the Island purchase and making your own Laws.

That said though – WHO IS Global Gaming Factory X AB, and who really owns this firm? Another timbo conspiracy anyone?

Long Live the Bay!! – and them Pirates surely got something new up their sleeve..like really. No more pirates? Thats kinda hard to believe.

Iphone 3G S – Apple done it again…or have they?

Finally – the long awaited new Apple product is out – and well, first looks don’t seem impressive. Why? lets start with the name – Iphone 3G S…

...eerrmmmm????

...eerrmmmm????

So much for first impressions huh.  For more detailed specs on the phone – visit this link.  There has been improvements yes, but not much.  Seems apple is running out of ideas.  We have to commend them though for the new iPhone 3.0 Software that has was released with the 3G S – (omg what a name lol) – and will be pushed to all iphone users soon.

As for the iPhone 3G S itself – well – it will be released on June 19th, and obviously some of the usual gadget junkies will be waiting all night for them (naturally – thats how they make their money – fans!). Personally this is one gadget that has disappointed – I mean yes there is mention of great speeds – and the specs do say greater speed – but was hoping for a much better/sleeker design, just a few improvements as well know the iphone si not the most attractive phone on the market.

So for now – am on the Blackberry/Sidekick tip – was hoping this will be an excuse for an upgrade on the phone department for me (am still in love with my old school 6300 and LG Shine as mentioned before)..but for now – seems the only thing worth spenging money on is a Blackberry/Sidekick….

Apple disappoints again.  same as what happened last time they released the new ipod nano’s.  All hype and no shine – smh…Come to think of it – sence the ipod was introduced, what really “stand out” product has apple released???

we await the next “revolutionary” product from Mr Jobs and his people…
