Nas – Remember the times

“It’d be sensless for us to lie about our own experiences…No longer are we tempted”

Ivan Van Sertima…Jade Goody

Confucius, Confucius
Sigmund Freud
And Fard Muhammad
Is it evolution or God?
Searching for the truth is a threat

This is the track that introduced me to confucius and his philosophies – and it also introduced a certain influential scholar – Ivan Van Sertima

I used to worship a certain Queens police murderer
‘Til I read the words of Ivan van Sertima
He inserted something in me
That made me feel worthier
Now I spit revolution
I’m his hood interpreter

The world has lost a true legend.  If you do not know much about him…umm…google him lol..or better yet – bing him (google controls your life too much, dont you want something new…)

Rest In Peace Doc…

A moment of silence please – and one for Jade Goody too – its been a minute since she been gone, but she done helped put a light on cancer and how anyone can be affected.  Remember how we were glued to the television since she was in hospital, watching her every move, marriage, struggle till she eventually left.  How the nation seemed to look  beyond all the drama and accept the beauty within.  If only we took life like that – appreciate people before they have been confined to their death bed…They say you don’t know what you got till it’s gone..

Nas – Untitled (NIGGER)

Nas - Nigger

Nas - Nigger

This i can say is the album of the year. Forget Lil Wayne and his Millions or his lollipop – he may have sold more but the lyrics are wack. Nas i massive, bak to his best and helps open eyes on the happenings and mishaps of the reality of fact.

If you haven’t listened to it yet, watch out for We are not alone – NIGGER -Slave and the Master, Hero, Louis Farrah Khan, Breathe..what am i saying, every single track is worh it. Even when he talking about Fried Chicken with Busta Rhymes, he makes it sound different (I wonder what Lil Weezy would have said)..Dont get me wrong, I love Lil Wayne, on my party and not so sober days and i wanna listen to some Bubblegum hip-hop., he just don’t compare to one of the greatest MC’s of all time..

Nas done did everyone proud on this one. All the doubters who was going on about how he turned commercial by signing for def-jam can sit on the sidelines while the salute walks on by – we salute the greatest rapper alive!
